Great place to eat. I ordered a steak w/ horseradish aioli sandwich (good kick) with tomato basil soup and noticed a flatbread on the counter. It looked good and I asked what it was. BBQ chicken flatbread. They gave me a LARGE free sample to try! It was fabulous! Also, the best tomato basil soup I have had in a loooonnnggggg time. Plan to bring my husband soon. Great to have something like this in Ankeny!

Do you have just a bakery menu?

      Hi Amy,

Our bakery items change a little bit every day, however you can generally expect a variety of flavors and types of cronuts, scones, cookies, bear claws, bagels. Additionally we always have a chocolate sour-cream bundt cake and cinnamon roll bundt cake made each morning.

If you’re looking to order for an event, we do special order cakes, and other bakery items. You can find more information on ordering for an event at our catering page here: http://www.mainstreetcafeandbakery.com/catering/

We’re excited to try it out! It sounds like a great addition to Ankeny. Do you have a drink menu to offer brunch cocktails like mimosas?

      Hi Kim,

We currently don’t have cocktails, though you can enjoy a refreshing sangria or a glass of wine. We also have a selection of beers available.

    Hi,

Do you offer any milk alternatives for your coffee drinks, such as almond milk or soy? I love lattes, but have a milk protein sensitivity.

    Thanks!

So anxious to try some of the yummy things on your menu. Do you have sides to go with the sandwiches?

      Hi Judy,

Thanks for your question – each of our sandwiches come with a choice of cup of soup, salad of the day, green salad, mixed fruit or chips!

      Hope to see you soon!

Do you have any selections for vegans? No meat/dairy?
    Thanks.

      Hi MJ,
I am continuously getting feedback from my son Zachary, who eats vegan, about our vegan options. We are always looking for ways to improve the choices for our vegan friends. We are not where we want to be and continue to look at options for everyone. I know as I type that we have a few items that with a couple of changes could be vegan. Our Strawberry and Spinach Salad and Orange Cranberry Salads ordered without cheese could become vegan. Garden Vegetable is our vegan soup option for now. We are open to any ideas you have to help us build a more vegan friendly menu. I hope in the upcoming months I can have more to offer in this area. You can reach me at 515-991-0118. Thanks for getting in touch with us, and we hope to build a better menu with the help of all of our friends.

      Thank you,

The menu looks delicious! Can’t wait to stop in. Just curious, can your cafe safely serve patrons with severe peanut allergies?

Good Evening, Judy. We do serve many items with nuts and we are sensitive to the way we handle all gluten and peanut items. We have many items that do not have nuts in them. There are actually many more items without nuts the we carry with nuts. Almost all of our sandwiches, pastas, salads, and house items do not carry nuts. On our website we have our to go menu and it does list the products that are in every item. Thank you for your inquiry and if we are fortunate enough for you to give us a chance let us know when you are ordering and we always try to be very careful in handling all of our products that contain items that anyone is allergic to.

Main Street Cafe and Bakery is delicious! The menu is extensive and the atomosphere is so warm and cozy. Nice decor, fireplace, and comfortable setting. I am so glad Ankeny now has such a great place for friends to meet and share a meal!
